Church of Santa Maria della Spina

A tiny, ornate Gothic church sitting on the bank of the Arno.

A masterpiece of Pisan Gothic architecture, this small church was built in 1230 to house a thorn (spina) from Christ’s crown. Its white marble exterior is covered in delicate sculptures and pinnacles.
