The vibrant central square of Munich's old town, home to the famous Glockenspiel.
Marienplatz has been the city's main square since 1158. It is dominated by the New Town Hall (Neues Rathaus) with its famous neo-gothic facade and the Glockenspiel, a historic carillon that re-enacts stories from Munich's history. The square also features the Golden Marian Column (Mariensäule) and the Old Town Hall.
