A stunning and highly ornate late Baroque masterpiece squeezed into a narrow space.
Built between 1733 and 1746 by the Asam brothers (sculptor Egid Quirin and painter Cosmas Damian) as their private chapel, this church is a dazzling masterpiece of Late Baroque and Rococo architecture. Though built on a tiny plot of just 8 by 22 meters, its interior is overwhelmingly rich with dramatic lighting, gold leaf, frescoes, and detailed stucco work.
