Alster Lakes (Binnenalster & Aussenalster)

Twin artificial lakes in the heart of Hamburg popular for sailing and strolls.

Formed by damming the Alster River, the Inner (Binnenalster) and Outer (Aussenalster) lakes form Hamburg's water center. Binnenalster is lined with luxury shops and historical arcades, while the larger Aussenalster is a green recreational haven favored for rowing, sailing, cycling, and walking along its perimeter.
